World-Class Freshwater Fishing

Lake Superior holds some of the finest freshwater fishing anywhere on the continent. Cast for lake trout, steelhead, salmon, and walleye from our private dock or head out with one of our trusted guide partners for a full-day charter on the open lake.

Our resort provides fishing equipment rentals, bait, and fish cleaning facilities for guests. Minnesota fishing licenses are available at the front desk. Catch-and-release is encouraged, but we're happy to help you celebrate a trophy catch the right way.

Autumn on the North Shore

September and October bring a transformation to the North Shore that has to be seen to be believed. The quaking aspens and sugar maples ignite in golds, oranges, and deep reds — framed by the endless blue of Lake Superior. It is, simply put, one of the most beautiful places in America during fall.

Wildlife viewing peaks in autumn as well. White-tailed deer, black bears, moose, bald eagles, and migrating hawks are all commonly spotted from our trails and observation areas. We offer guided wildlife walks with naturalists who know exactly where to look.

A Wonderland After the Snow Falls

Winter at Up North is quieter than the summer rush — and all the more magical for it. Cross-country ski along groomed trails through snow-covered birch and pine. Snowshoe to frozen waterfall viewpoints that few people ever see. Ice fish on inland lakes with local guides who know every productive spot.

Return each evening to your cabin's fireplace and the satisfaction of a day fully lived in one of the most beautiful winter landscapes in the upper Midwest. Aurora borealis sightings are possible on clear winter nights — we'll wake you if conditions look promising.
